sound + sleep :: sacred practices to journey within

Join us at The Space, a healing and empowerment studio in Port Hope, for a cozy evening of connection, celebration, and communion with yourself through the power of your voice and deep rest.

:: SOUND :: (7:00-8:30pm)

We will play with mantras in Sanskrit, and songs in English, toning our voice and using any sound makers that we wish to play with. Singing and toning is for everyone, whether you feel you have a “good voice” or not (that statement doesn’t exist as a reality at The Space!) This is a safe space to play and explore and open up to what is wishing to be expressed within and through you.

A mantra is an instrument to free the ego mind, or a way to train, re-program and master the thinking mind. Mantras are vibrational formulas that surround us in primordial sound frequency that free up energetic blockages and distortions from our field and move them into the chakras to be digested and re-integrated into the body. Repetition of mantra changes the way we see ourselves and the world around us, and builds new neural pathways in the brain. They are vehicles to open deeper into our hearts and raise our consciousness.

:: SLEEP :: (8:30-9:30pm)

The second half of this gathering with be a yoga nidra practice. Yoga nidra is a guided meditation that is done laying on your back, supported and cozied up with pillows and blankets. Yoga Nidra means “sleep yoga”, however this is a practice of awakening. You will be guided through the 4 layers of your body (the koshas) – physical, subtle, mental/emotional, intuitive – and into a state of deep rest. In this state of deep rest, with practice, your body will fall asleep while your mind remains alert. When the body is asleep, it allows us access to the subconscious mind, which is where all of our unconscious (meaning what we don’t know) stories, programs and beliefs are held. These are the programs that have been collected and stored from the moment of the spark of inception, those that drive how we view and experience the world and then therefore create our world. This practice is highly powerful to do after a sound practice as it creates the spaces for anything that was stirred up and moved within you to be completed and integrated.

Weather pending, we can head outside to enjoy a bonfire after the yoga nidra and enjoy good conversations and good company!

What to bring:
-yoga mat
-pillow (or 2)
-meditation cushion if you have one
-crystals, jewellery, or any other special items you would like to place in our alter to be tuned and activated by our sound practice
-any instruments you like to use
-fold up chair if you are staying for the fire
-a snack to share

7:00-9:30pm (with option to stay for fire afterwards)

Space is limited to 14 people
